Longxing Temple Sarira Pagoda is a cultural tourism attraction.

Pengzhou Longxing Temple is located in the urban area of Pengzhou, backed by the ancient city’s Nanlian neighborhood. Originally enclosed by red walls, shaded by ancient cypresses, and surrounded by lush bamboo and trees, it was a renowned ancient temple known far and wide. Over the centuries, Longxing Temple has weathered many ups and downs, experiencing several periods of rise and decline. It was renamed five times over the years, and by the 1940s, it covered an area of more than 80 acres, boasting a vast expanse and grand scale, with over 100 monks. The main structures included four halls aligned along a north-south central axis: the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Buddha Hall, the Mahavira Hall, and the Scripture Depository. These halls were laid out in an orderly fashion with a simple, classic style. In addition, there were over 150 rooms in total, including the Guest Hall, Ancestral Hall, Precept Hall, Abbot’s Quarters, Monks’ Rooms, and the Dining Hall — forming a complete monastic architectural complex. Corridors connected all the halls and rooms, providing shelter from sun and rain while adding to the solemn, elegant, exquisite, and practical design. It served as a “Ten Directions Monastery” on the Chengdu Plain, a major temple that held initiation ceremonies, and was long known as the “Sacred Site of the Seven Buddhas,” enjoying fame throughout Western Sichuan.
