Dayinchagou’s Dalongtan

Dayinchagou got its name from the ancient silver mines that once operated here. Legend has it that over 3,000 years ago, this was a key passageway for the Shu people, ancestors of the Sichuanese, migrating southward from the highlands of the Yellow River basin into the Sichuan Basin. To this day, many legends still surround the nearby small mountain plateaus: Liangai Ping is called Luanjia Ping, believed to have been the site of the imperial palace where the emperor resided; Guojia Ping is called Guojie Ping, said to have been the residence of the emperor’s maternal uncle; Sanhe Ping is called Sanfu Ping, where three mansions were built and regarded as an auspicious and premium land. Located in Longmen Mountain Town, Pengzhou City, about 89 kilometers from Chengdu, it sits at an elevation of around 2,000 meters. The temperature here is approximately 4°C lower than in Chengdu, with summer highs not exceeding 24°C. Evenings bring a cool and tranquil atmosphere, making it the nearest and highest-altitude natural retreat near Chengdu for summer escape, leisure, and spiritual refreshment.

Due to its location on the Longmen Mountain Fault Zone, during the 5·12 Wenchuan Earthquake, residential areas around Liangai Ping in Dayinchagou were razed to the ground, with nearly all buildings collapsed; Xiaolongtan was buried under collapsed debris; all structures of the Dayinchagou Jieyin Temple, except for the pagoda, were destroyed; both sides of Dalongtan experienced landslides, and the pond itself was buried, leaving no trace of the original Dalongtan.

The Dayinchagou Scenic Area is located in Dayinchagou, Longmen Mountain Town, Pengzhou City, about 89 kilometers from Chengdu. It consists of three scenic zones: Jiufeng Mountain, Danjing Mountain, and Dayinchagou. With verdant mountains and clear waters, Dayinchagou features attractions such as Haihui Bridge, Dalongtan, Xiaolongtan, Yincang Gorge, Hundred-Zhang Waterfall, Luohong Waterfall, and Pearl Curtain Waterfall.
