Xinchang Chuanwang Palace

Xinchang Chuanwang Palace is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Chuanwang Palace is located in Hutiaohe Village, Xinchang Town, Dayi County. It is a temple that combines Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Originally built in the 48th year of the Wanli era during the Ming Dynasty, it was destroyed by fire in the late Qing Dynasty and "reconstructed in the first month of autumn, the 15th year of the Republic of China" (inscribed on beams in the Sanqing Hall and pavilions). The site covers an area of 2,534.7 square meters, with a built-up area of 1,464.6 square meters. The Chuanwang Palace complex consists of a screen wall, the Lingguan Hall, the Zhang Fei Hall, the Guan Yu Hall, a corridor, an octagonal pavilion, and the main hall. The overall architecture is built along the natural terrain, rising layer by layer with a compact yet varied layout, breaking away from the symmetrical structure typical of traditional temples, making it a rare example of modern-era temple architecture in the Chengdu area.

In 2003, more than 20 stone statues were unearthed under a cypress tree. In 2007, it was designated as a Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit. Xinchang Chuanwang Palace provides valuable physical material for the study of modern-era temples and wooden architectural features on the Chengdu Plain.

In May 2013, Xinchang Chuanwang Palace was announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Protected Area: Bounded by the existing perimeter wall.

Building Control Zone: Extending from the protected area boundary — south to the road between Xinchang Town and Chujian Town, north to the embankment of the Hutiaohe Hydropower Station, east to the Hutiaohe River, and west to 60 meters beyond the mountain slope along the road.

Xinchang Town: Located in the western part of the Chengdu Plain, Xinchang Town is the earliest established town in western Dayi. It is a region with both mountainous and flatland characteristics and serves as a pilot small-town development site in Sichuan Province. It lies 10 kilometers from the county seat, covering an area of 34.9 square kilometers. The town administers seven administrative villages, 135 agricultural production teams, one community neighborhood committee, and has a total population of 26,300. Agriculture: The taxable arable land area is 13,986 mu, including 2,626 mu of dry land and 111.36 mu of paddy fields. Major crops include rice, wheat, corn, and rapeseed. In mountainous areas, 710 mu have been returned from farming to forest, and 100 mu of barren hills have been afforested.
