The 5·12 Earthquake Relief Memorial Hall is a patriotic education base.

The “United as One, Determined as Steel – 5·12 Earthquake Relief Memorial Hall” is located in Anren Town, Dayi County, Chengdu, covering an area of 14,000 square meters with a construction area of 8,508 square meters. The hall includes themed exhibition rooms, an earthquake science education zone, a memorial area, and temporary exhibition spaces. It is now a national patriotic education demonstration base and a Sichuan provincial patriotic education base. The memorial hall is open to the public free of charge year-round.

The themed exhibition hall covers an area of approximately 5,000 square meters, with an exhibition line of 872 meters, displaying over 210 items (sets) of relics and more than 640 panels. The thematic exhibition comprehensively reviews the unprecedented scale of the earthquake relief struggle, reflects the heroic deeds and moving spirit, showcases the great strength of the Party and the people, and inspires and encourages people of all ethnic groups across the country, under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, to vigorously promote the great spirit of earthquake relief: united as one, determined as steel, fearless of danger and unyielding, people-oriented and science-respecting. This spirit led to an all-around victory in both earthquake relief and socioeconomic development.

Anren Town: Anren Town has a long history. As early as the third year of the Wude era of the Tang Dynasty (620 AD), the Anren County was established (50 years before Dayi County), under the jurisdiction of Qiongzhou in Jiannan Circuit. According to “Taiping Huanyu Ji,” it was named after the meaning of “benevolence brings peace.” The county seat at that time was located in what is today’s Anren Town. Because it was historically the seat of “Anren” County, the name remains. Until the 21st year of the Yuan Dynasty (1284 AD), the Anren County was abolished, and its region was incorporated into Dayi County. Before liberation, Anren was known for having “three armies, nine brigades, and eighteen regiments,” and produced notable military and political figures such as Liu Wenhui and Liu Xiang.
