Attraction introduction

Taian Temple is located in Taian Ancient Town at the back of Mount Qingcheng. First built in the Tang Dynasty, it is the oldest surviving Buddhist temple on Mount Qingcheng and was once home to many renowned monks. The ancient temple was damaged in the Wenchuan earthquake and reopened in 2012. Today, it is bustling with worshippers, and many visitors come here to offer incense and pray.

The temple currently features structures such as the Mahavira Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, and the Great Compassion Hall. It also houses three ancient Qing Dynasty stone tablets: “Inscription on the Reconstruction of the Twin-Merit Building,” “Tai’an Temple Qing Jiao Tablet,” and “Ullambana Festival.” Beside the temple stands a stupa that is the memorial pagoda of the Ming Dynasty eminent monk Jian Sui. The surrounding area is home to dozens of towering ancient trees, including red beans, ginkgos, and zhennan trees. In front of the temple lies an ancient post road, which was the essential route from Guan County to Jinchuan.
