Ancient Riverside Path

The Ancient Riverside Path winds along the foothills of Mount Yulei and is paved with red sandstone. It connects the ancient Yulei Pass gate, the Old South Bridge, and the Two Kings Temple. In ancient times, ethnic minorities from the mountainous regions used this path to enter the Chengdu Plain. The walls of Yulei Pass are tall, with sheer cliffs and rapid currents below, and mountain terrain above, making for an extremely strategic and perilous location. Legend has it that during the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang once dispatched the general Ma Chao to lead troops in defending the Dujiangyan Irrigation System.
