Kuiguang Pagoda

Kuiguang Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Kuiguang Pagoda is located in the middle section of Kuiguang Road in the urban area of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is the ancient pagoda with the most extant stories in China. Constructed during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty by then-county magistrate Zhou Yinpei to embellish the landscape and revive literary culture, the pagoda faces north and is a hexagonal brick structure with closely spaced eaves. It stands 17 stories tall at 52.67 meters; the interior of the pagoda features inner chambers and viewing corridors on floors 1 to 5, accessible via a spiral stone staircase. Thanks to prior protective measures and a solid foundation, although parts of the pagoda were damaged during the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake (May 12), its main structure remained intact and it continued to stand firmly after the quake. Kuiguang Pagoda holds significant historical, cultural, scientific, and artistic value, and has become one of the iconic landmarks of Dujiangyan City.

Protected Area: Bounded by the existing perimeter wall.

Construction Control Zone: 20 meters beyond the outer edge of the eastern wall, and 5 meters beyond the outer edges of the southern, western, and northern walls.
