The Ya'an Zhougongshan Hot Springs Park is nestled at the foot of the picturesque and lushly surrounded Zhougong Mountain. The mountain winds through the park like a colorful ribbon descending from the summit, adding a touch of soft elegance. The park boasts rich vegetation and idyllic pastoral scenery, while the high-quality and abundant Zhougongshan Hot Springs inject premium core resources into this natural resort.

The hot springs park is located 6 kilometers from downtown Ya'an and serves as a golden stop along the western loop of the “Greater Shangri-La” tourism route, vigorously developed by the provincial and municipal governments. Within a 30-kilometer radius, there is a wealth of nearby attractions: to the north are the Bifengxia Panda Breeding Base, Shangli Ancient Town, and Mengding Mountain Scenic Area; to the south are the Tianhe Geological Landscape, Wawu Mountain Forest Park, and Wangyu Ancient Town; and to the west are the Tianquan Laba River, Fengtongzhai Panda Nature Reserve, Dongla Mountain, and other cultural and natural sites.

The hot springs park currently has four mid- to high-end hotels, either completed or under construction, including the five-star-standard Nanshuige Hot Springs Hotel, the four-star-listed Meng Hot Springs Hotel, and the three-star Tianfu Hot Springs Inn. In August 2005, Zhougongshan Hot Springs Park successfully hosted the main venue of the Third Sichuan Provincial Tourism Development Conference, fulfilling all conference and reception tasks to the full satisfaction of provincial and municipal leaders, who spoke highly of its achievements.

II. Hot Spring Water Resources

1. The Zhougongshan Hot Spring well reaches a depth of 3,475 meters, with a wellhead pressure of 2.5 MPa. Artificially drilled, the spring spontaneously gushed out in March 2000, with water temperatures between 78°C and 81°C, a well pressure of 3.2 MPa, a daily yield of 4,000–5,000 m³, peaking at 5,076 m³. The gushing water from the wellhead can reach up to 32 meters high.

In accordance with national geological survey standards, after a full hydrological year of dynamic monitoring and water release tests, its flow rate, temperature, pressure, and water quality have all remained stable. Testing by the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences confirmed that Zhougongshan Hot Springs originated from ancient waters dating back 30,000 years. 3. Zhougongshan Hot Spring water offers significant medical and health benefits. Evaluated by an expert panel organized by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Land and Resources, eight mineral elements were found to meet the therapeutic concentration standards set by China’s “Medical Thermal Mineral Water Quality Standards,” while one element met the mineral water concentration standard. It was officially certified at the provincial level as: high-temperature medical thermal mineral water containing iodine, bromine, lithium, fluorine, metaboric acid, hydrogen sulfide, metasilicic acid, and radium. In addition to the components listed in the “Medical Thermal Mineral Water Quality Standards” (GB1165–89), other beneficial elements also meet certain standards, making Zhougongshan Hot Springs also classified as a sulfate spring and sodium chloride spring. It provides special therapeutic and health benefits for various skin diseases, wounds, scars, rheumatoid arthritis, gynecological conditions, nervous system disorders, and more.

4. Owing to its large yield, high temperature, and excellent composition (as a medical thermal mineral spring), Zhougongshan Hot Springs has been hailed by experts as the “Best Hot Springs in Sichuan.”

III. Infrastructure Development of the Hot Springs Park

The planned development area of Zhougongshan Hot Springs Park covers a total of 3,800 acres, with 1,620 acres available for construction. To date, 240 million yuan has been invested in infrastructure. Completed facilities include five bridges, 4 kilometers of roads, 8 kilometers of hot spring pipelines, three sewage treatment stations, one substation, one natural gas station, as well as fiber optics, cables, and 20,000 m³ of landscaping for the scenic area.
