Sichuan Agricultural University

Sichuan Agricultural University is a national key university under the “211 Project,” renowned for its focus on biotechnology and strength in agricultural sciences, as well as its coordinated development across multiple disciplines. It is also recognized as an outstanding institution by the Ministry of Education’s undergraduate teaching evaluation. The current Party Committee Secretary is Professor Deng Liangji, and the President is Professor Zheng Youliang.

The university has a long-standing history and rich resources. It originated as the Sichuan General Agricultural School, established in 1906, and subsequently went through various historical phases including the Sichuan Higher Agricultural School (1912), Sichuan Public Agricultural Specialized School (1914), Public Sichuan University College of Agriculture (1927), Sichuan Provincial College of Agriculture (1932), National Sichuan University College of Agriculture (1935), and Sichuan University College of Agriculture (1950). In 1956, the entire Sichuan University College of Agriculture was relocated to Ya’an, the former capital of Xikang Province (abolished in 1955), where it became an independent institution known as Sichuan Agricultural College. In 1985, it was renamed Sichuan Agricultural University, and in 2001, the Sichuan Forestry School was fully incorporated. The university currently has three campuses—Ya’an, Chengdu, and Dujiangyan—covering a total area of approximately 4,500 acres, with a collection of 6.25 million volumes (items) in its library.
