Xikang Provincial Sanatorium

The Xikang Provincial Sanatorium was built in 1953, with its former site located within the Ya'an Detention Center in Duoying Town, Yucheng District.

The sanatorium currently has two old buildings, both two-story brick-and-wood structures with a total floor area of approximately 2,180 square meters. Featuring black tiles and blue bricks, they exhibit a typical Sino-Western architectural style from the Xikang period.

It is reported that during the Xikang period, the site included office buildings, inpatient wards, and sanatorium buildings. After Xikang Province was merged into Sichuan Province in October 1955, it was taken over by the Ya'an Prefecture and converted into the Ya'an Prefecture Tuberculosis Hospital, which ceased operations in 1965. Later, the site was temporarily used by the Chengdu Institute of Biological Products. In 1968, the Ya'an Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant moved in. Currently, only two old buildings remain—one well-preserved building is used by the Ya'an Detention Center, while the other is maintained by the Ya'an Cultural Relics Management Office.
