The Martyrs' Tomb of Zhang Yuqing and Zhu Chengzhi

The Martyrs' Tomb of Zhang Yuqing and Zhu Chengzhi serves as a patriotic education base.

The Martyrs' Tomb of Zhang Yuqing and Zhu Chengzhi is located in the Muchuan County Martyrs' Cemetery, which was built in 1989 and is situated on Lion Mountain to the southwest of Muchuan County town, covering an area of 14.5 mu.

In January 1935, Zhao Qimin (in charge of —), a member of the former Jiaxing Central County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, using the alias Zhang Xiaotao, directly led the peasant movement in the area around the Mabian River. On February 23, peasants from Tianbaoshan in Fengcun Township were the first to launch an armed uprising. After the uprising failed, efforts shifted to Gaosun, where work intensified with party members Zhu Chengzhi, Zhong Fuxing, Zhang Yuqing, and others to mobilize the masses, organize workers' and peasants' armed forces, establish two organizations—the “Sichuan South Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Committee” and the “Revolutionary Military Committee of the Fourth Route Red Army Guerrilla of Sichuan”—forge broadswords and spears, embroider revolutionary red flags, and prepare slogans and proclamations. On May 10, an uprising force of over a hundred people split into two routes to attack predetermined targets, striking oppressive landlords and occupying the township government office, but they were met with armed suppression by the enemy. After the failure of the uprising, when Zhang Yuqing returned home while in hiding, he was shot and seriously injured by the local Nationalist township head and later passed away. Zhu Chengzhi was arrested and sent to Pingshan for imprisonment. He remained unyielding and died in jail. In 1988, the People’s Government of Sichuan Province posthumously recognized comrades Zhang Yuqing and Zhu Chengzhi as revolutionary martyrs, and in 1989, their remains were reinterred in the Muchuan County Martyrs' Cemetery.

In December 1988, the Muchuan County Civil Affairs Bureau designated it as a county-level historical memorial building protection unit. In April 1995, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs approved it as a provincial patriotic education base.
