New Store Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument

The New Store Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located on Zhongwen Mountain in Xinhe Village, New Store Town, approximately 500 meters west of the New Store Town government seat.

The people of New Store have a glorious revolutionary tradition, with many martyrs having made the ultimate sacrifice for the revolution. Selfless and fearless, they faced death with unflinching resolve, writing moving and heroic chapters in the history of China’s revolution with their blood and lives. They built meritorious deeds for the motherland and brought honor to their hometown. Though dead, they live on, and their names will be remembered through the ages. In 1989, with approval and funding from the People's Government of Weiyuan County as well as donations from the people of New Store, the Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument was erected to commemorate the martyrs and inspire future generations. The monument faces west and stands 12 meters tall, consisting of three square sections. The inscriptions list the names of 351 martyrs and highlight the life stories of Luo Shiwen, former Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China; Zhang Dichi, former Secretary of the Weiyuan County Committee; and Yuan Fangbing, an anti-Japanese hero and Second Lieutenant pilot of the Air Force's Third Squadron.
