Mianyang Teachers' College is a full-time regular undergraduate institution directly under Sichuan Province. In 2002, it was established through the merger of the former Mianyang Teachers College and Mianyang Education College, approved by the Ministry of Education of China. In 2006, it became qualified to confer bachelor's degrees; in 2007, it passed the national undergraduate teaching work level evaluation with good results; in 2011, it was approved as a pilot unit for the “Special Needs Project for Serving the Nation” program and began enrolling master's degree students in environmental engineering.

The college is located in Mianyang, known as the “Pearl of Shu Road,” which is China’s only science and technology city, the second-largest city in Sichuan Province, and the hometown of the romantic poet Li Bai. The campus covers an area of over 1,560 acres with a building area of 445,300 square meters, featuring a range of modern facilities including a gymnasium, tennis courts, and swimming pools. The library holds over 1.54 million printed volumes and more than 3.6 million electronic documents. The total value of fixed assets exceeds 1.1 billion yuan.

The college has developed a comprehensive talent cultivation system that includes graduate education, full-time undergraduate and junior college education, adult higher education, and international student education. It comprises 16 secondary colleges and serves more than 17,000 students, including postgraduates, full-time undergraduate and junior college students, and international students, covering 71 full-time undergraduate and junior college programs in 9 major disciplines. The college has qualification review authority for professorial and associate professorial positions in 5 and 10 disciplines respectively. There are 10 provincially distinctive majors, 2 provincial-level comprehensive discipline reforms, 7 provincial-level “Excellence Plan” projects, 2 Sichuan Provincial Talent Cultivation Model Innovation Experimental Zones, 2 Sichuan Provincial Higher Education Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, 1 Sichuan Provincial Teachers’ Continuing Education and Training Center, and 18 provincial-level quality courses.
