The former site of the General Hospital of the Red Fourth Front Army in Beichuan is located in Maocao Township, Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, and is a highly representative red cultural tourism destination. In mid-April 1935, when the Red Fourth Front Army entered Beichuan during the Long March, its general hospital moved along with the troops. In early May, after the Battle of Qianfo Mountain commenced, the hospital was relocated to Qiu Family Courtyard in Maocao Township to provide logistical medical support for the battle. After the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, the site was protectively restored according to its original architectural style. The restored former site of the Red Fourth Front Army General Hospital has been listed as a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, comprehensively showcasing the arduous journey and indomitable spirit of the Red Army during the Long March.

Maocao Township: This township is located in the western part of Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, situated in the middle reaches of the Qingpian River, a tributary of the Fujiang River. It borders Yuli Township to the east, Badi Township to the south, Mao County of Aba Prefecture to the west, and Baishi and Taolong townships to the north. It covers an area of 104 square kilometers, including 322 hectares of arable land. The township administers 7 administrative villages and 34 villager groups. At the end of 2004, it had a total population of 2,502 people, comprising 592 households, of which 2,301 were ethnic minorities.
