I happened to come across a notice from the Korea Tourism Organization titled "The Pink Messengers of Autumn," which was a very romantic description. Long before the maple leaves turn red each year, many parks or suburban areas in South Korea are already adorned with stunning pink cosmos flowers, quietly signaling the start of autumn to city dwellers. Aside from nearby Seoul locations like Guri Citizen’s Han River Park and Ansan Gosan, the female travelers also visited the cosmos and buckwheat festivals at Northchon Station and Northchon-myeon in Hadong County, Gyeongsangnam-do—these were also the filming locations for the Miss Flower autumn series introduction by the tourism agency.
The simplest and most convenient way to get to the festival site at Northchon-myeon from Busan is to take the Mugunghwa train from Pusan Station to Northchon Station, with a travel time of about two and a half hours. However, since there are not many trains running daily, it’s necessary to book tickets online in advance.
Northchon Station is a typical small rural station. But thanks to the cosmos flowers that bloom along the railway and nearby fields, this place transforms from ordinary to beautiful, and from quiet to lively every early autumn.

Walking into the village, I saw a quieter side of it.
In order not to miss the arrival of the train, the girls didn’t dare to wander too far and could only take photos of the small scenes by the tracks.
I forgot how long we waited (whenever we pick up our cameras, our sense of time gets really fuzzy, haha), but the train finally arrived. Fortunately, having had the experience of photographing the cherry blossom train at Gyeonghwa Station, the girls found the right spot to shoot. The combination of the train and the cosmos flowers wasn’t half bad either.
The little flowers glowing under the afternoon sunlight made their pink hues even more vibrant.
That day, the girls chose the 18:20 train back to Busan, which also allowed them to capture the Northchon Station against a sunset backdrop—a very unexpected bonus :)
