Ginna Qiang Village

Ginna Qiang Village is a patriotic education base.

This is a brand-new village rich in Qiang ethnic characteristics.

Dozens of small buildings are scattered across the mountainside settlement. The exterior walls of the buildings are adorned with ephedra stones, resembling the traditional Qiang style of "building homes with stacked stones." The rooftops feature corner ornaments with the “White Stone God,” revered by the Qiang people. Red-silk-wrapped sheep skulls and colorful flags printed with Qiang characters and patterns are spread throughout the village. Strings of corn and chili peppers hang beside every household’s entrance, while rows of cured meats and sausages are lined up on balconies, ready to be sliced and served. Two watchtowers stand in striking contrast to the radiant sunlight, giving the entire village a serene yet festive atmosphere.

Before the earthquake, this place was called Ma'ershi Village and served as the southern gateway to Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County. After the earthquake, as the first permanent Qiang settlement in Beichuan, it was given a new name: Ginna — the name of a beautiful goddess in Qiang mythology.
