Yongping Fort Ancient City

Yongping Fort Ancient City is a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.

The largest well-preserved ancient battlefield site in Sichuan Province, it is a provincial-level cultural heritage site. Located in Kaiping Township, Beichuan County, Mianyang City. Built in the 26th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (

1547

). The fort is divided into three levels: upper, middle, and lower, built along the mountain terrain with strategically vital positions. It blocked the main routes used by ancient northern Qiang and southern tribes entering the Western Sichuan Basin and advancing east toward the Chengdu Plain, making it a contested military stronghold. There are numerous historical relics here, including surviving command platforms, barracks, watchtowers, and other ruins.

Protection area: extends 50 meters outward from the outer edges of the ancient city walls on all sides.

Construction control zone:

Upper city site: extending upward to the mountaintop of Gaocheng site, downward to Xiaoyuan River, leftward 100 meters beyond the outer edge of the ancient city wall, rightward 100 meters beyond the outer edge of the ancient city wall.

Middle city site: extending upward to Yinfeng Mountain, leftward 100 meters beyond the outer edge of the ancient city wall.

Lower city site: extending downward to Yinfeng Mountain, rightward 100 meters beyond the outer edge of the ancient city wall.
