The Ji’an Fort Ruins are located in Wufeng Village, Gubai Office, Daying County, Suining City. Constructed during the middle to late Ming Dynasty, this defensive structure played a vital role in providing local residents shelter from bandits and protection amid the warfare of the White Lotus Sect uprising.

The Ji’an Fort Ruins feature an oval-shaped fort wall, with sections built atop steep and rugged rocks. Its eastern and western gates exude the imposing aura of “one man guarding the pass, ten thousand unable to break through.” Built with exquisite craftsmanship, the fort walls have smooth joins between the stones, and the lines of the battlements remain distinct. Despite weathering over the long years, the overall structure remains majestic — evoking vivid imaginings of battles from the past.

The three large characters “Ji’an Fort” on the eastern gate are fully preserved. Ascending the stone steps, worn by the passage of time, toward the gate is like awakening a sealed slice of history. Are not the “Ji” (auspiciousness) and “An” (peace) of Ji’an Fort irrefutable evidence of how people in turbulent times prayed for tranquility?

Nowadays, visitors come from near and far to see the site. As they leave, they often glance back again and again. Indeed, throughout history, who among the common folk hasn’t wished for peace and fortune?
