Nanyang Forest Park is located in Nanyang Township, approximately 37 kilometers northeast of Bazhou District, Bazhong City, at the junction of Tongjiang and Bazhou within Bazhou District, covering an area of 1,218.9 square kilometers. In 1993, it was designated as a "Provincial-level Forest Park" by the People's Government of Sichuan Province. Nanyang Forest Park boasts unique natural scenery, pristine landscapes, rare birds and animals, and numerous tourist attractions, drawing visitors from both home and abroad. In recent years, it has attracted tourists from across the country and around the world with its distinctive natural beauty, ancient primitive charm, exotic wildlife, and abundant scenic spots. It is hailed as a unique gem along the northeastern Sichuan tourism route.

Nanyang Forest Park consists of four major scenic areas: Laotudi, Sifangbei, Tianmashan, and Wumacao. Each attraction features majestic, perilous, and picturesque landscapes that stretch for dozens of kilometers, creating the extraordinary sight of “peaks viewed horizontally and ridges viewed sideways.” Standing at Laotudi and looking southwest toward Changliang, the sky hangs like a thread above towering cliffs with unparalleled steepness and grandeur, making visitors feel as if they are treading a celestial ladder. Arriving at Sifangbei, where three counties converge, the terrain grows increasingly treacherous as you hike. On this boundary land, the mountains rise gradually from low to high, with valleys and ridges standing vertically side by side, dense forests stretching as far as the eye can see, and pine waves whispering in the wind, offering a true sense of the charm of pine winds and spring melodies. Tianmashan is long and undulating, with overlapping majestic peaks and a powerful presence, covered in lush woodlands. The five peaks of Wumacao stand tall and imposing like five steeds galloping swiftly toward the trough to drink, adding even more legendary allure to the mountains of Nanyang. The views inspire endless reverie.

The landscapes of Nanyang Forest Park are remarkably diverse. In spring, summer, autumn, and winter—whether caressed by a gentle breeze, bathed in golden sunlight, shrouded in mist, or enveloped in drizzle—the scenery varies endlessly, presenting a magnificent and ever-changing spectacle. After the rain clears, the accumulated clouds cover the sky, blending mountain and heaven as one. Ascending to the mountaintop and looking down, you’ll see the sea of clouds churning with mountain peaks poking through. In the evening, standing atop Laotudi or Tianmashan and gazing into the distance, you’ll witness the sun setting in brilliant hues, with forests painted layer upon layer in radiant colors. At sunrise, the mountains bathe in golden light, and the woods glow with vibrant splendor.

The forest scenery of Nanyang Forest Park is dominated primarily by Masson pine, fir, and cypress forests, interspersed with species such as Quercus acutissima, cork oak, birch, Chinese wingnut, sweet gum, and wild cherry, as well as shrubs like ginkgo, eucommia, nanmu bamboo, arrow bamboo, and rhododendron. The park can be divided into several scenic forest types: "Artificial Pure Masson Pine Forest," "Artificial Pure Fir Forest," "Artificial Pure Cypress Forest," "Artificial Pure Chinese Pine Forest," "Artificial Pure Ginkgo Forest," "Artificial Pine and Cypress Mixed Forest," and "Mixed Coniferous and Broadleaf Forest." Walking into the vast sea of woods feels like returning to nature. The forest blooms with flowers all year round, and the greenery adds fragrance and color to the entire park.
