Bazhou Lingyun Pagoda

Bazhou Lingyun Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

Bazhong White Pagoda, originally named Lingyun Pagoda, is located in Bazhong City, Sichuan Province, the site of the ancient Bashu region. The white pagoda stands atop a high cliff, overlooking the Nanjiang River and the entire city. It is considered the most beautifully designed high-rise structure in northern Sichuan. The octagonal-shaped, 13-story pagoda stands 43 meters tall and was built in the 10th year of the Daoguang Emperor’s reign (1830 AD). The inner structure is made of stone, the outer of brick, combining the two materials. Inside, a spiral stone staircase winds up through 11 levels (the top two being solid). Each level of the pagoda features eight arched windows built from brick, and each floor has one stone chamber inside, making the construction notably solid.

Protected area: 50 meters eastward from the base of the pagoda, 10 meters southward from the outer wall of the pagoda courtyard, and west and north to the mountain cliffs.

Construction control zone: 50 meters beyond the protected area.
