The Peng Clan Ancestral Hall of Yunyang is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Peng Clan Ancestral Hall of Yunyang, also known as Peng Family Tower, is located in Liming Village, Lishi Township, Yunyang County, at the small place called Wazhuo Stream. Originally built in 1803 and completed in 1823 after a 20-year construction period, it is the only well-preserved and most architecturally unique late Qing Dynasty feudal landlord manor in eastern Chongqing.

The hall faces east and features a double-courtyard layout, covering an area of 3,500 square meters with a building area of 2,561 square meters. It has a closed castle-style compound layout composed of a front gate hall, main gate hall, hall of offerings, theater stage, courtyard, city walls, perimeter walls, wing rooms, arrow tower, and four corner watchtowers. At the center of the courtyard stands a nine-story, stone-and-wood structured pavilion-style tower with triple eaves and a four-corner helmet roof. The tower reaches a total height of 37 meters, with the lower six stories built from stone and walls 1.3 meters thick. The architecture is grand in scale, rigorously arranged, and features a simple, elegant, and majestic design. It possesses profound historical and cultural significance and a unique architectural art style, which led to its recognition as a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit in Chongqing. It is also one of the key cultural landmarks in Yunyang County’s “one core, two wings” development plan.

The Peng Clan Ancestral Hall is a complex structure that combines a clan ancestral hall with a fortress, integrating functions of ancestor worship, defense, and accommodation. It features a rigorous layout, grand scale, elegant and majestic form, and exquisite ornamentation. The hall currently houses 13 stone carvings of paintings and calligraphy by Peng Juxing, a renowned modern Chinese painter and calligrapher. It serves as important cultural and historical material for studying the residential architectural style and artistic forms of eastern Sichuan during the late Qing Dynasty.
