World’s Longest Skywalk Opens: A Breathtaking Walk on Clouds

The world’s longest skywalk, the Yunyang Cloudwalk, officially opened on April 26 in Chongqing, China. Perched atop a thousand-meter cliff, it offers visitors the chance to walk among the clouds and admire the classic karst landscape of the Yunyang Longgang National Geological Park.

The Yunyang Cloudwalk is located in the Yunyang Longgang National Geological Park, situated on a cliff 1,010 meters above sea level. With a cantilever length of 26.7 meters, it is 5 meters longer than the Grand Canyon Skywalk in Colorado, USA, making it the longest cantilever glass skywalk in the world. The bridge deck and railings of the Cloudwalk are made entirely of transparent glass, creating the sensation of walking in the sky while offering unobstructed, panoramic views of the surrounding classic karst rock formations—thrilling and awe-inspiring.

In terms of structure, the Yunyang Cloudwalk is similar to the Grand Canyon Skywalk in Colorado, USA. There are no support columns beneath the bridge; the cantilever section alone uses approximately 500 tons of steel. The main structure is solid enough to support the weight of 100 to 200 people and can withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8 and typhoons as strong as category 14. However, to enhance the visitor experience, only thirty people are permitted per guided tour, which lasts about thirty minutes. The current guided tour ticket price is set at 60 RMB.
