The world’s longest skywalk, the Yunyang Cloudwalk, officially opened on April 26 in Chongqing, China. Situated atop a thousand-meter cliff, it allows visitors to walk above the clouds and enjoy the classic karst landscape of the dramatic rock formations in the Yunyang Longgang National Geological Park.

The Yunyang Cloudwalk is located within the Yunyang Longgang National Geological Park, perched on a cliff at an altitude of 1,010 meters. With a cantilever length of 26.7 meters, it is 5 meters longer than the Grand Canyon Skywalk in Colorado, USA, making it the world’s longest cantilever glass skywalk. The bridge deck and guardrails are made entirely of transparent glass, giving the sensation of walking high above the earth. Visitors can also enjoy a full, unobstructed view of the surrounding classic karst rock formations — an experience that is both thrilling and awe-inspiring.

In terms of structure, the Yunyang Cloudwalk is similar to the Grand Canyon Skywalk in Colorado, USA. There are no support columns beneath the skybridge. The cantilever section alone uses approximately 500 tons of steel. The main structure is solid enough to hold the weight of 100 to 200 people and can withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8 and typhoons as strong as category 14. However, to enhance the visitor experience, only thirty people are allowed on the skywalk at a time, with tours lasting about half an hour. The current guided tour ticket price is tentatively set at 60 RMB.
