South Three Gorges

A mountainous natural scenic area located in Nixi Township, Yaoling Township, and Yunfeng Township in the southern part of Yunyang County. It is accessible via the Yunyang–Lichuan Highway. The area is 52 kilometers from the new county town of Yunyang. Covering 15 square kilometers, the scenic zone consists of three gorges: Longku Gorge, Huoshan Gorge, and Canglong Gorge. Among them, Longku Gorge is known for its serene valleys and beautiful waters; Huoshan Gorge for its steep mountains and peculiar rocks; Canglong Gorge for its mysterious caves, fog, and tranquil forests. Major attractions include: Twenty-Four Pools Under the Moonlight, Beauty Spring, One-Line Sky, Stone Dragon Slicing the River, Leaping Over the Dragon Gate, Dragon Head Evening Glow, Five Dragons Holding the Sage, and Old Dragon Cave. Rafting in Huoshan Gorge has been open to visitors since May 1, 2009.
