Shijiazui Site

Shijiazui Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

A Neolithic site. Located on the first and second terraces of the northern bank of the Yangtze River in Bayang Village, Bayang Town, Yunyang District, Chongqing. Excavations were carried out by Xiamen University from 2000 to 2003. Remains from the Neolithic period as well as the Shang, Zhou, and Han dynasties were discovered. The later remains mainly consist of tombs from various periods, while the earlier remains date back to the late Neolithic period. Artifacts unearthed include scalloped-lip flanged-rim jars, coarse pottery with cord-marked patterns, polished stone tools, and chipped stone flakes, reflecting the Neolithic culture of the region west of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
