Sandonggou Gorge

Located in the northeast corner of Changshou District. Less than 1 kilometer from downtown Changshou. It is a natural scenic area. The site features attractions such as cliffside waterfalls, rock caves and stalagmites, and a hydroelectric power museum. Upstream in the scenic area lies Taohuaxi Stream, where the flow of water is obstructed, forming three-tiered waterfalls, three rock caves, and three pools—hence the name Sandonggou. Sandonggou is 2.4 kilometers long and 0.5 to 0.7 kilometers wide, with a V-shaped cross-section.

The Sandonggou urban gorge is a long, deep channel in the lower reaches of Taohuaxi Stream, near the northeastern section of the county town. With its serene and breathtaking scenery, it has been praised as "the fragrance of peach blossoms drifts ten miles along two paths, and immortals emerge from the three peach-blossom caves," making it one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Old Changshou. This attraction stretches 2.4 kilometers with a V-shaped cross-section and a vertical drop of 160 meters between the bottom and the top. The east, west, and north sides are surrounded by steep cliffs, with the northern face being the most rugged and precipitous. The terraces on both sides of the cliffs are filled with bizarre rocks, and the stream bed is strewn with jumbled stones. During times of severe flooding, the water of Taohuaxi Stream rushes to the First Cave and suddenly encounters three-tiered rocky strata, cascading down to form three waterfalls. Beneath each waterfall lie ancient, deep, and mysterious caves and pools several meters deep. The crashing water creates a thunderous roar, with mist swirling around, often accented by shimmering rainbows, giving an ethereal, fairyland-like impression. Commonly known as the "Three Peach-Blossom Caves."
