Introduction: Baoding Waterfall is located 12 kilometers from the county town, covering an area of 15 square kilometers. It mainly consists of Baoding Waterfall, Baoding Lake, Baoding Mountain, Baiyun Nunnery, and the primeval dwarf forest. The waterfall originates from Zhenbaoding, the second highest peak in South China. The water flows from Qingbei River, bends westward after passing the dam, heads north around the mountain, and then cascades down the mountain slope into Baoding Lake. After several plunges, the water falls freely from the sky like a giant silver dragon breaking through clouds and mist, descending from above. Its majestic momentum can be described as “waterfalls plunge down three thousand feet, as if the Milky Way fell from the ninth heaven.” At the foot of the waterfall lies Gaohu, also known as Baoding Lake, which covers an area of 705 mu (about 47 hectares), with a maximum depth of 50 meters and an average depth of 35 meters. When boats glide across, they create gentle ripples that spread out in even patterns, resembling a large mirror inlaid among the mountains, making the flying waterfall appear even more grand. Baoding Waterfall has rare features found nowhere else in the world: a granite rock bed, a drop of over 700 meters, and a high lake at the base of the waterfall. The waterfall hangs on the waist of the towering Baoding Ridge, stretching over 1,000 meters. Due to the steep mountain terrain, the waterfall is divided into nine tiers, all composed of complete Danxia rock formations, making the flow look as if it is coursing down a floating red silk. Sunlight shining through the mist of the splashing water creates a rainbow-like spectrum, giving rise to the saying of “Nine Heavens.” The widest part of the waterfall spans over 200 meters, while the narrowest is still about 20 meters wide, with a total drop of 180 meters. During spring and summer, the waterfall reaches its maximum water flow. From the top to the bottom, the water makes several twists and turns, forming nine tiers that directly pour into Baoding Lake. The Flying Sky Waterfall rushes down fiercely from a cliff shaped like a laughing Buddha’s belly, forming a massive fan-shaped curtain of water, powerful and thunderously loud. The Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake praised it, saying: “The cliffside waterfall is long as a bolt of cloth, pours as if tipping, and spreads evenly like a curtain.” Dining / Accommodation / Shopping:
