The former site of the Anti-Japanese Democratic Government of Xingye County is located in Chenghuang Primary School in Chenghuang Market, 21 kilometers southwest of Xingye County, Yulin City, Guangxi. . A special bus from Yulin City can take you there. The site covers an area of 130 square meters. Chenghuang Primary School is a brick-and-tile structure and is a building from the Qing Dynasty. It is a historical and cultural humanistic scenic tourism area. The original construction date is unknown. It was rebuilt in the 15th year of the Daoguang reign (1835), when the architectural structure consisted of one entrance hall, one pavilion, and two side wings, with the side wings aligned with the pavilion. The front section had three bays, featuring a hard mountain-style brick-and-wood structure. The pavilion had several stories and housed a statue of Kuixing (the God of Literature) inside. The eaves and beams were carved with flowers, plants, birds, and beasts, making it quite spectacular and exquisite. Currently, only the front three-bay section remains. On March 2, 1945, after the Xingye County People's Self-Defense Army captured the village and town offices of Renhou, Kuiyang, and Tiesheng, a military-civilian oath-taking assembly was held where the establishment of the Anti-Japanese Democratic Government of Xingye County was announced. The government was set up in what is now Chenghuang Town Primary School. It serves as a base for patriotic education.
