Chongxiao Temple
Chongxiao Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.
Destination Introduction
The scripture depository of Chongxiao Temple is located in Chongxiao Hutong, west of Baiguang Road. It was first built in the first year of the Zhenguan era during the Tang Dynasty, renovated during the Ming Dynasty’s Tianshun era, and had its scripture depository constructed during the Jiajing era. Chongxiao Temple is also famed for its flower cultivation. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was known for its jujube blossoms; in the mid-period, for lilacs, and later for peonies—especially the celebrated ink peonies. Only a two-story scripture depository with corridors from the Ming Dynasty remains today. It is a key cultural relic protected by Xuanwu District.
