North Riverside Park

North Riverside Park was formerly the Dewayi Nursery in Xicheng District. It was converted into an open street park in 1980 and underwent its first major renovation in 1998. The renovation project was designed by Beijing Guoan Landscape Design Company and constructed by the Xicheng District Landscape Bureau. Construction began in April 1998 and was completed in September 2000. The park covers an area of 66,300 square meters, with green space spanning 54,547 square meters.

The park is divided into two sections. The eastern part houses a Strange Stones Exhibition Hall with a construction area of 5,000 square meters, displaying over 2,000 ornamental stones of more than 100 varieties from more than ten provinces and cities across China, truly bringing together stones from famous mountains under one roof. Next to the hall is a traditional Beijing-style courtyard called the Stone Friends Clubhouse. The park is complemented by various rocks, trees, and plants, forming a uniquely themed strange stone park that operates with closed management—visitors need to purchase tickets. The western section is primarily for leisure and greening, with appropriately placed public fitness equipment. It is an open public green space, mainly serving to beautify the environment and provide residents in densely populated areas with a place for rest, recreation, and exercise.
