Tiandong Baigu Village in Pingma Town, Tiandong County, is located in the heart of the Youjiang River Valley, on the western outskirts of Tiandong County town. It boasts rich revolutionary historical culture, abundant red tourism sites, distinctive eco-agricultural features, a strong rural folk atmosphere, and beautiful waterside scenery along the Youjiang River.

Baigu Village has a glorious revolutionary tradition. In 1926, many youths from the village participated in revolutionary activities. In 1929, the village spontaneously organized a farmers' association and a peasant self-defense force, and established the Baigu Village Group of the Communist Party of China, bravely resisting the Kuomintang reactionaries. Leaders of the Baise Uprising such as Deng Xiaoping, Zhang Yunyi, and Lei Jing Tian came to the village to guide the revolution, while figures like Wei Baqun, Yu Shaojie, and Wei Rushan frequently promoted revolutionary theories there. At that time, out of the 86 households in the village, except for one landlord family, a total of 131 people from the remaining 85 households joined the Red Guards and the Red Army. Sixty-nine members of the Red Guards were incorporated into the 62nd Regiment of the 21st Division of the Red Seventh Army, nine took part in the Long March of the Red Seventh Army heading north, and 16 outstanding individuals sacrificed their precious lives for the Chinese revolution. On this honorable and legendary land, also emerged a general of the People’s Republic of China — Major General Zhu Heyun, former commander of the Armored Forces of the Nanjing Military Region. The martyrs are highly revered, and this heroic land is affectionately called “Red Army Village.” Within Baigu Red Army Village, there are a series of “Red” themed projects including the Red Army Village Monument, the Red Army Exhibition Room, Red Army Road, the Red Army Village Gate, Red Army Village Headquarters, Red Army School, and the Red Army Martyrs Monument, as well as thematic activity rooms such as the “Farmers’ Book House” and “Agricultural Science and Technology Information Room.” There are also cultural groups like the “Baigu Red Army Village Elderly Choir” and the “Baigu Red Army Village Youth and Middle-aged Art Troupe.” On February 8, 2008, General Secretary Hu Jintao met with the village’s elderly choir and sang Red Army songs with them. On October 20 of the same year, Chairman Wu Bangguo listened to their singing. On December 11, [name redacted] visited the village to offer condolences and held discussions with the choir members. In June 2010, Vice President Xi Jinping also warmly met with the elderly choir of the village.
