Luocheng Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area

The Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area is located in Yuanmeng Tun, in the western part of Huaiqun Town, Luocheng County, about three kilometers from Huaiqun Town. The Tianmen Mountain cave is over a hundred meters high and thirty meters wide, boasting a magnificent and uniquely beautiful landscape that is a marvel of nature. The rock walls are smooth as if polished, resembling the work of divine chisels. Viewed from afar, the Tianmen resembles an unveiled stage or a grand, open gate. The serene Jian River flows beneath the Tianmen, its waters crystal clear, with the lush green bamboo on the riverbanks fully reflected in the water. Inside the Tianmen cave, the space is bright and breezy, offering a cool and tranquil atmosphere. The cave ceiling forms an arched shape, from which various stalactites hang in peculiar and vivid shapes, showcasing a thousand different postures and lifelike forms that inspire awe. A poet once visited Tianmen Mountain and wrote in praise: "A cave door wrought by the divine hand’s might, within the painting lies another charming sight; a light boat first tests the warm Jian River’s flow, while riverside bamboo in spring makes one drunk with its glow." Legend has it that in ancient times, the Jian River often flooded violently, bringing disaster to the people who could hardly find a place to live. The mountain god Gelao Lei, seeing innocent people suffering from the floods and undeterred by the obstruction of demons, stepped forward and tirelessly chiseled through the mountain day and night until he finally broke through the cave, allowing the river to flow through the mountain—thus creating the Tianmen.
