The Luocheng Mulao Ethnic Museum serves as a patriotic education base and a national defense education base.

The Mulao Ethnic Museum is situated to the north of Chenglong Lake Park, integrating seamlessly with the park’s picturesque landscapes of hills and waters, as well as its traditional pavilions and towers. Alongside the Yu Chenglong Integrity Culture Exhibition Hall to the west, the two together form two major themed cultural landscapes. It is an ethnic history and culture-themed museum mainly focused on exhibiting the survival and development of the Luocheng Mulao people, material evidence of their social progress, and treasured cultural artifacts.

The Mulao Ethnic Museum is a newly constructed facility, rebuilt at a new site based on the original museum. Construction began on December 28, 2012, was completed in August 2014, and officially opened to the public free of charge on November 20 of the same year. It was one of the key projects celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County. The museum covers a site area of 4,692 square meters, with a building area of 6,490 square meters and a height of 22 meters, consisting of three floors. Its exterior design highlights the architectural cultural style of the Mulao ethnic group, combining traditional Mulao architectural elements with the functionality of a modern museum.

The museum houses multiple permanent exhibition halls, including the lobby, Folk Culture Exhibition Hall, Ethnic Culture Exhibition Hall, History and Culture Exhibition Hall, Revolutionary Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall, and Cultural Education Achievements Exhibition Hall. It boasts a collection of over 2,000 cultural relics, featuring a rich array of artifacts. It is currently one of the largest landmark public cultural venues in Luocheng in terms of architectural scale, exhibition space, and comprehensive public service facilities.

The Mulao Ethnic Museum adheres to the mission of wholeheartedly serving the public, with core responsibilities including collecting and preserving historical relics of the Mulao people, organizing exhibitions of cultural relics and art, and more. It holds a significant position within the cultural landscape of Luocheng, especially in relation to Mulao culture. It serves as a window through which Luocheng in Guangxi presents the profound ethnic history and culture of the Mulao people to both domestic and international audiences. It also functions as an important platform for cultural exchanges between the Mulao people and other ethnic groups worldwide. The museum plays a vital role in the study of the history and culture of China's Mulao people. It has been designated as the “Guangxi Patriotic Education Base,” a “Field Research Base” for Guangxi University for Nationalities, a “Demonstration Base for Ethnic Cultural Heritage among Minors” in Hechi City, one of the “First Batch of National Defense Education Bases” in Hechi City, a “Research Base for Intangible Cultural Heritage Aesthetics” under the School of Art at Guangxi University, a “Joint Teaching and Internship Base” between the Luocheng Mulao Ethnic Museum and Hechi University, as well as a “Cultural and United Front Education Base” for the Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County. It is hailed as the “Artistic Hall of the Historical Culture and Civilization of the Luocheng Mulao People.”
