Taiping Xingguo Temple Pagoda

Taiping Xingguo Temple Pagoda is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Located in the northeast of the former Taiping Xingguo Temple within Anyi District, Yuncheng City, also known as Nanhai Pagoda or Anyi Pagoda, it was built during the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty and renovated in the Song Dynasty.

The pagoda has an octagonal floor plan with thirteen stories, originally standing 89 meters tall. Over the years, due to earthquakes and other factors, its height has been reduced by 18 meters, leaving it with eleven stories and a current height of 71 meters. From the third to the sixth and seventh stories, there is a noticeable tapering, and the interior is hollow with small octagonal chambers. The southern side of the first story has a door, while the eastern, western, and northern sides each have a small chamber. When viewed from below, they resemble stacked caisson ceilings, but these have been damaged, leaving only traces. From the second story to the top, each level features round arched windows on the north-south and east-west axes. At the eight corners of each story, iron wind chimes are hung. The spire is inscribed with the characters “Jiangzhou,” and at the base of the spire, there used to be a spiral resembling incense coils, which no longer exists.

In May 2013, Taiping Xingguo Temple Pagoda was designated as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
