The Milk Spring Ancient Well is a cultural relic protection unit of Guiping City.

Milk Spring Ancient Well

Known as one of China’s Four Famous Springs along with Bao Tu, Tiger Running, and Dragon Well, the Milk Spring is located halfway up Xishan Mountain in Guiping. Nestled among towering ancient trees and lush shade, it gushes with fresh water year-round, remaining abundant in both dry and rainy seasons. More remarkably, at regular intervals, the normally crystal-clear spring water suddenly turns milky white, filling the well before subsiding—its sweet and mellow taste a delight to those who drink it. Each milky outflow lasts for over two hours.

Address: Located within the Xishan Scenic Area, Xishan Village, Xishan Town, Guiping City

Protected Area: Centered on the well, extending north to the Milk Spring Inscription cliff carving, east to the eastern edge of the Milk Spring Pavilion, west to the cliff behind the large banyan tree, and within 10 meters south of the well’s rim.

Construction Control Zone: The construction control zone has the same boundaries as the protected area.
