Baiyun Mountain in Wuzhou is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Baiyun Mountain in Wuzhou is located to the northeast of downtown Wuzhou. Baiyun Mountain connects remotely with the Five Ridges, embraces three rivers, and rises abruptly in Wuzhou, winding and undulating with a majestic presence. From the mountaintop, you can overlook the entire city and take in distant scenery.

The mountain is covered with towering trees, shrouded in morning mist. After rain clears, pristine clouds drift whimsically. The lofty Baiyun Mountain is like a green-clad maiden wearing a white veil and scarf. A Tang Dynasty poet, Meng Haoran, wrote: "The white clouds of Cangwu stretch far, the misty waters of Dongting run deep." A Qing Dynasty poet, Li Shirui, composed: "Morning dew glistens at sunrise, evening mist veils the setting sun." Baiyun Mountain is one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Wuzhou, known as "Cloudy Ridge in Clear Air."

Baiyun Mountain was developed into a park in 1981 and designated as one of the first batch of autonomous region-level scenic areas in 1988. Facilities such as Yunfeng Pavilion, Songyun Tower, Shuangqing Pavilion, Kite Platform, Mid-mountain Pavilion, Autumn Viewing Platform, and the Pine Wave Tiger Roar sculpture were built on the mountain. At Longquan Chong at the foot of the mountain, structures like Longyin Pavilion, Waterfall Viewing Pavilion, Exploring Seclusion Bridge, and the "Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl" relief were constructed. Climbing to the top Yunfeng Pavilion offers a breathtaking view that makes all other mountains seem small. A tree-lined path leads directly from Yunfeng Pavilion to the Kite Platform.

On the eastern foothills of Baiyun Mountain lies the famous "Tiger Head," where rugged rocks and steep terrain resemble a crouching tiger. Walking north from the Kite Platform, you’ll find a peach orchard. In spring, when the peach blossoms are in full bloom, many people come here to admire the flowers and take photos, creating a scene reminiscent of “peach blossoms reflecting on rosy cheeks.” Birds frequently take off from the woods in the distance, their clear calls echoing through the valley. Passing the orchard and ascending the hill brings you to Shuangqing Pavilion. Below the pavilion is a vivid tiger sculpture facing the surging pine forest as if howling—a true representation of the "Pine Waves and Tiger’s Roar." During holidays, the area is bustling with visitors. On Chongyang Festival, the mountain becomes especially crowded, with tens of thousands of people climbing to celebrate, creating a lively atmosphere.

At the foot of Baiyun Mountain lies the Longquan Waterfall. Backed by Cloudy Ridge and facing the Xijiang River, the valley is deep, quiet, and elegant, with sheer cliffs, a solemn atmosphere, swaying vines, mottled moss, and hanging ferns. Spring water meanders through the valley, with fish visible among the pebbles on the bottom. Scattered rugged rocks dot the landscape, lying by the spring or nestling near the water—gleaming, uniquely shaped, and varied in form. As the saying goes, “The path winds through shaded groves, the spring flows through crevices in strange rocks.” The winding spring originates from the mountain’s inner valley and flows directly toward Dragon Islet before pouring into the Xijiang River.

Between 1994 and 1996, Baiyun Mountain Park underwent a large-scale afforestation and landscaping project, transforming the originally Masson pine-dominated forest into a richly diverse South Asian tropical rainforest composed of various trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants. This showcases the natural beauty of spring’s vibrancy, summer’s splendor, autumn’s red hues, and winter’s verdancy. Climbing Baiyun Mountain allows you to enjoy the experience of “bathing in sea of clouds, feasting on layered peaks, sipping from two rivers, and overlooking the mountain city.”
