Pantang Park is situated in the central area of Hexi District in the city. It started construction on August 24, 1997, and was completed on December 10, 1998. The park spans 12.736 hectares, including 4.608 hectares of green space and 8.128 hectares of water area. The park's planning revolves around the theme of water, utilizing the properties of water through features such as flowing streams, lakes, fountains, and channels, complemented by elements like covered bridges, stepping stones, revetments, willow trees, viewing platforms, and pleasure boats. The park is home to 57 varieties of plants, including narrow-leaved banyan, weeping fig, kapok, flamboyant, queen’s crepe myrtle, canna, osmanthus, and lotus, as well as palm species like the royal palm. The park also offers entertainment and service facilities such as a children’s playground, pleasure boats, dining options, a convenience store, and a first aid station. In March 2000, construction began on the Shangpantang (Lotus Pond) project, with the main structure completed on June 29. Around the same time, 1,600 sections of lotus roots were planted in Shatan Pond, followed by the planting of 272 pots of water lilies, as well as batches of West Lake willows, weeping figs, and golden leaf plants. A 420-meter-long scenic boardwalk consisting of winding bridges and some stepping stones was also built for visitors to stroll and admire the lotuses. Currently, there are 19 management staff, including 4 greenery maintenance workers, 7 cleaning staff, and 8 security and technical personnel, who provide meticulous care for the park.

Pantang Park is an open park that reflects the characteristics of a water city and incorporates European-style architecture. It integrates culture, sightseeing, relaxation, tourism, and commerce, making it one of the most popular urban parks among residents. It receives over 2 million visitors annually.
