Guizi'ao

It is situated at the boundary between Banliu Village and Guolang Village in Ligao Township. Legend has it that Guanyin gave birth to a hundred children here, hence the name "Hundred Sons' Pass" (Bai'zi'ao).

The mountains on the side of the pass are steep and the road is narrow, making it a perilous section of the Liuyong Highway. On June 16, 1945, the 525th Regiment of the 46th Nationalist Army Division arrived here via a shortcut from Qianjiang and joined forces with nearby village self-defense teams and civilians to block the Japanese army. After two days and nights of fierce fighting, the Japanese suffered heavy casualties and fled in panic. To commemorate this victory, a stone archway was erected at the mouth of the pass, inscribed with the three large characters "Guizi'ao" (Japanese Pass), along with a memorial pavilion and a monument detailing the battle. Today, the monument and pavilion have been destroyed.
