Fuxi Song Village is located in Chao dong Town, Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County, Hezhou City, Guangxi. It is 40 kilometers from Fuchuan County and 100 kilometers from Hezhou City. This is a historical and cultural scenic area of humanistic interest. It is an ancient village with a long history and rich cultural heritage. The cultural foundation here is very deep, featuring the lecture hall of Zhou Dunyi, the founder of Neo-Confucianism in the Song Dynasty, as well as residences once inhabited by his descendants. Many buildings, stone carvings, and stoneworks reflect the characteristics of Song Dynasty culture and traditional craftsmanship. There are thirteen clan gate towers adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, along with a collection of ancient ancestral halls belonging to the five surnames—Zhou, He, Chen, Tang, and Liao—and a number of ancient residential houses. In the gate towers, ancestral halls, folk houses, and temples, decorations include calligraphy and paintings themed with noble flowers such as lotus, chrysanthemum, plum, and orchid. There are also latticed windows and door lintels featuring wood carvings of patterns such as fu (fortune), lu (prosperity), golden ingots, and deities. The beams, eaves, and brackets are painted with motifs like clouded magpies, bamboo and pine trees, and dragons and phoenixes. Architectural stone carvings showcase symbols of civilization such as “merit stones,” “paper-burning furnaces,” “wind-and-rain bridges,” and “Hundred-Pillar Temples.” Additionally, there are a number of ancient relics including an old opera stage, ancient study hall, bluestone-paved streets, and ancient stone inscriptions. The Ma Yin Temple in the village has been listed as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and is one of the main attractions. With its unique humanistic charm, architectural style, and tranquil, rustic tourism environment, Fuxi Song Village has become a key rural tourism destination in Hezhou.
