Tomb of Peng Yannian

The Tomb of Peng Yannian is a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Tomb of Peng Yannian is located at the northern foot of Fúqiū Mountain in LínCuòliáo Village, Méiyún, Róngchéng District, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, and is one of the renowned tombs in the Chaoshan region. Originally built in the third year of the Shaosheng era of the Song Dynasty (1096), the tomb faces a plain in the front, backs onto rolling hills, and is surrounded by clear flowing water in the front, embodying the traditional feng shui ideal of a “treasure land” where “mountains encircle and waters embrace.” The tomb faces north and sits south, with a stele that is 3.7 meters wide, typical of the Song Dynasty style. In front of the tomb stands a spirit way stele erected in the Wanli era. Both the “Sites” and “Tombs and Mounds” sections of the (Kangxi) Gazetteer of Chaozhou Prefecture and the (Qianlong) Gazetteer of Jieyang County contain records about this tomb. It serves as an important physical artifact for contemporary scholars researching the history and culture of the Chaoshan region.

On December 10, 2015, the Tomb of Peng Yannian was approved and announced by the People's Government of Guangdong Province as part of the eighth batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.
