Located in Yiling Village, Dananshan Town, Puning City, southwest of the temple, in the serene surroundings of "Fozi Zuo Dou," Baolong Temple was established during the late Qing Dynasty's Xuantong era. Since its renovation starting in 1989, it has become a magnificent and spectacular site. Located just 5 kilometers from Liusha City, with the Liusha-Qianpu Highway running right in front of the temple, it enjoys convenient transportation and has become a popular destination for worship and sightseeing. It was officially registered and opened to the public in November 1994.

The temple was originally built during the Xuantong era (1909–1911) at the initiative of Master Zheng Zhenliang (later revered as Shigong), who also practiced Buddhism here. He referred to himself as the "outsider from Lishan Yangwai," hence he was also known as "Shantou Gong." He was a devout, accomplished, and highly respected Buddhist lay practitioner.

Due to changes in the political climate over time, the monastic community dispersed. Coupled with the ravages of time and human factors, only ruins and broken walls remained of the original temple structures. After the reform and opening-up period, with political stability and social harmony, rebuilding efforts flourished. In the spring of 1989, lay practitioner Chen Hanhui, with approval from relevant authorities and as the person leading the temple’s revival, raised funds to rebuild Baolong Temple. The temple covers a construction area of approximately 3,000 square meters. Built into the mountain with grand momentum, it faces southwest from the northeast. It now includes the Heavenly King Hall, Shigong Hall, Mahavira Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Guanyin Pavilion, Dizang Pavilion, Merit Hall, Guest Hall, a long Wall of Donors, a liberation pond covering over 300 square meters along with an outdoor Water-Dripping Guanyin statue (about 3 meters tall, made of clay), a four-and-a-half-story comprehensive building spanning 1,300 square meters (completed on the eighth day of the sixth lunar month in 1997), pavilions, and a 3-kilometer cement road (completed in 1997). (In the eighth lunar month of 2001, the Lotus Pond Assembly Hall covering over 300 square meters was also completed on the west side.) And more.

The temple is situated in a feng shui treasure land, embraced by rolling hills, backed by a majestic and beautiful barrier, and fronted by the elegant Baolian Pond (liberation pond), the "Piercing Sky Candle," "Fozi Zuo Dou," "Lion and Elephant Gate Guardians," and the "Luoxing Water Barrier" scenic spots. To the southeast stands the "Literary Peak." The surrounding area is filled with exotic flowers and plants, fragrant blooms, lush pines and cypresses, and a spring-like climate all year round — a naturally exquisite wonderland. It is truly a spiritually splendid sacred site and an ideal place for pilgrims and tourists to worship, enjoy the scenery, and cultivate their sentiments.
