The former site of the “Liusha Conference” is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province and a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the “Liusha Conference” refers to the location where the military decision-making meeting of the headquarters of the southward-moving forces of the Nanchang Uprising was held. It is situated on the east side of Xinhe River in Liusha, Puning, Jieyang. Originally a Christian church built in the 16th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty, the site features a simple structure made of lime-plastered walls and timber, including front wing rooms, a courtyard, a rear hall, and side chambers.

On September 23, 1927, the southward-moving forces of the Nanchang Uprising arrived in Chaoshan. On October 1, leaders of the Front Committee and the Revolutionary Committee—including -, Yun Daiying, Li Lisan, -, and Nie Rongzhen—along with their staff, withdrew from Shantou to Liusha and stayed at the church and other locations. On the 3rd, the uprising forces that had retreated from the frontlines in Jieyang arrived in Puning, and He Long, Ye Ting, and others also reached Liusha. After regrouping, a military decision-making meeting of the headquarters was convened by - in the side chamber of the church where they were staying. The meeting preliminarily reviewed the experiences and lessons since the uprising, implemented the directives of the 8th of July Central Committee meeting, and made a series of major decisions of great historical significance. After the liberation, leaders such as Guo Moruo and Yang Chengwu visited the site and left inscriptions. In August 1984, Marshal Nie Rongzhen inscribed a plaque for the site.

Today, the former site of the “Liusha Conference” has become an important educational venue for inspiring future generations and enlightening the public.

In December 1979, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province.
