Tomb of Chen Songshan

The Tomb of Chen Songshan is a cultural relic protection unit of Chaoyang District.

The Tomb of Chen Songshan is located in Dayuliudi, Xilu Town, Chaoyang District. The tomb faces northeast and was built in the seventh year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1528). The tombstone reads: “Tomb of Chen Songshan, Posthumously Honored as Wenlin Official and Censor of Henan Circuit, of the Ming Dynasty, and His Wife Madam Keji You.” In front of the tomb is a pavilion, and on the back wall of the pavilion is a stone plaque inscribed with the imperial decree by Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, which conferred the title of Wenlin Official upon Chen Dachi’s father and the title of Madam (Ruren) upon his mother. The entire tomb complex is divided into four parts: the front courtyard, the open platform (yangcheng), the worship pavilion, and the burial chamber, covering an area of about 1,000 square meters. Currently, there are one pair each of stone pillars, stone sheep, and stone horses. The worship pavilion has a rigorous structure, consisting of a main hall and two side rooms—the main hall is 3.5 meters wide, and each side room is 1.8 meters wide.

In 1992, the People’s Government of Chaoyang County designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.
