Qianmei Ancient Village is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Qianmei Ancient Village is located in Longdu Town, Chenghai District, Shantou City, and is a settlement predominantly inhabited by the Chen family. Established in the late Yuan Dynasty, the village has a profound cultural foundation, a significant overseas Chinese community, a distinguished history of scholarly success, and has produced dozens of national leaders including former Thai Prime Minister Chen Chia-kuo, as well as many tycoons such as Chen Cihong, the wealthiest Chinese person in the late Qing Dynasty. Dozens of domestic and international dignitaries, including Zhao Ziyang, Hu Sheng, Zhuang Shiping, Jiang Xiaoyan, and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, have visited the area. The Chen Cihong Ancestral Residence, located in the village, spans over 20,000 square meters and is divided into sections such as Langzhong Mansion, Shoukang Lane, Shanju Residence, and Sanlu. Qianmei Village has been recognized as one of Guangdong Province’s characteristic tourism villages, one of its ancient villages, and one of the 30 most beautiful villages in the province.

The tourist area is themed around the natural ecological environment of the ancient village and traditional Chaoshan overseas Chinese culture. It enjoys a beautiful natural setting and a pleasant climate all year round. Surrounded by the mountains of Sangpu and Lianhua, and crisscrossed by the Han River water system, the area offers picturesque views of distant peaks and nearby waters, resembling a paradise on earth. Being here evokes a sense of simplicity and a feeling of returning to nature.

The architectural landscape here is uniquely distinctive. The tourist area preserves 18 well-maintained century-old mansions, including Shanju Residence, Langzhong Mansion, Shoukang Lane, Sanlu, Guzu Family Temple, and Zuishi Villa. These buildings feature architectural styles that blend “Four-Horse Carriage,” “Four-Point Gold,” and Western-style buildings, integrating the essence of ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign architectural art. Their grand scale and magnificent splendor make visitors feel as if they are wandering through a labyrinth, leaving them in awe.

With a history of over 600 years, Qianmei Village still retains authentic traditional Chaoshan handicrafts and folk activities. In the tourist area, visitors can enjoy performances of Chaoshan music and opera, witness demonstrations of Chaoshan embroidery, silk reeling, bamboo lantern-making, and participate in lantern riddle games. They can also taste authentic Chaoshan Gongfu tea and local specialties. During traditional festivals, visitors can join in folk activities such as god parades, lantern processions, and dragon boat races.
