Foshan Science Museum

Foshan Science Museum is a science education base.

Foshan Science Museum, located on the bustling Fenjiang South Road in Foshan City, was built in 1985. In order to better disseminate scientific knowledge and bring the public closer to and help them understand science, the Foshan Municipal Government allocated funds in August 2001 to renovate the museum, which officially opened to the public.

The renovated museum aims to promote the spirit of science, popularize scientific knowledge, and spread scientific ideas and methods. It serves as an important platform for science education for the general public and has become a place where learning is integrated with fun. In 2003, Foshan Science Museum was recognized as a Guangdong Provincial Youth Science Education Base.

The new museum features four permanent exhibition areas: Children's World, Life Science Exhibition Area, Information Science Exhibition Area, and Wisdom World. It houses a total of 82 exhibits that emphasize scientific accuracy, educational value, and entertainment, with an interactive, hands-on approach that allows visitors to understand and experience science through participation. Additionally, there is a 4D cinema utilizing 4D film technology; a state-of-the-art planetarium; a Little Doctors Science Park that encourages visitors’ creativity, including a pottery workshop, Future Engineers Studio, and Computer Robotics Lab; as well as an advanced academic lecture hall, science education training rooms, and computer labs. The museum also hosts free public science lectures on a non-regular basis in the academic lecture hall.

In the past year, Foshan Science Museum received nearly 110,000 visitors for tours and educational purposes. In the days to come, our museum will continue, as always, to advance science education with a scientific development perspective. Foshan Science Museum will keep serving the people of Foshan and visitors from afar on a long-term basis.
