Foshan Huo Clan Ancestral Hall

The Foshan Huo Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Foshan City.

The Huo Clan Ancestral Hall in Foshan is located in Lanshi Town, Shiwan, Foshan City. It is a large-scale ancestral hall complex consisting of four parallel structures with a total area of 2,484 square meters. The group includes the "Huo Mianzhai Public Family Temple," "Chunlin Huo Clan Ancestral Hall," "Huo Clan Family Temple," and "Stone Academy." It was first built in the fourth year of the Jiajing reign during the Ming Dynasty (1525) and was renovated during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty. The main buildings all feature a courtyard layout with a front gate, front hall, and middle hall. Each section has a flush gable roof, with a mixed beam structure of raised beams and through-tenons, all intricately decorated with carvings of figures, flowers, and plants, either in relief or high relief. The courtyards feature four-pillar, three-bay memorial archways that rise to the sky, each inscribed with a plaque.

Huo Tao, the sixth-generation ancestor of the Huo family, ranked first in the metropolitan examination in the ninth year of the Zhengde reign during the Ming Dynasty (1514) and later served as Minister of Rites.

In 1998, the Foshan Municipal People's Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.
