Oujiazhuang

Oujiazhuang is a cultural relic protection unit of Foshan City.

Foshan Oujiazhuang is located in Jurén Lane on Fuxian Road in the urban area of Foshan City. It is a complex of residential buildings constructed during the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era by the wealthy Ku family, who were merchants dealing in imported miscellaneous goods. Originally called Ou Lane, it is also known as Oujiazhuang. Initially, only four residences were built. During the Tongzhi era, an ancestral hall called “Zizheng Family Temple” was added. It is three bays wide and three bays deep, with a central four-pillar hall. Over time, more residences, libraries, gardens, and other structures were continually added, totaling ten buildings with a combined area of approximately 1,500 square meters. The layout of the residential compound is neat and orderly, with uniformly designed buildings arranged in a grid-like pattern similar to a matrix. All alleyways are paved with flagstones, which also serve as firebreaks, and the drainage system is scientifically and rationally designed.

In 1989, the Foshan Municipal People's Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.
