Yezhuang Estate

Yezhuang Estate is a cultural heritage site protected by Foshan City.

Yezhuang Estate is located at Baoshanfang on Dongshang Road in the urban area of Foshan City. It is a large complex of residential buildings built during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty by the wealthy Ye family, who were merchants dealing in both Chinese and Western patent medicines—hence the name. Covering an area of nearly 4,000 square meters, the estate features the Ye Dafu Ancestral Hall at the street entrance, constructed in the third year of the Guangxu era (1877). The hall has a flush-gable roof, a three-bay width, and a two-courtyard layout, with a four-pillar main hall at its center. Both the estate residences and the ancestral hall are concentrated on the north side of Baoshanfang, arranged as a series of connected single structures facing south, forming a 79.7-meter-long alleyway entirely paved with granite. The buildings are tall and spacious, with exquisitely decorated interiors, many featuring carved woodwork on the eaves. Originally, there were gate towers on both the east and west sides, but the western one no longer exists. The surviving eastern gate tower is faced with polished blue bricks, and its stone plaque is inscribed with the characters “Nanyang” (南阳).

In 1989, the Foshan Municipal People's Government designated it as a cultural heritage site.
