Liumian Ancient Trail

The Liumian Ancient Trail is a tree-lined mountain path within Xishan Park, stretching over 200 meters in length and 4–5 meters in width. There are a total of 103 stone steps along the climb. The four-character plaque “Liumian Ancient Trail” is well preserved. Legend has it that six kapok trees were planted here during the Song Dynasty but withered away by the Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty. Locals then replanted six more, marking the second generation. By the autumn of 1984, one of them was destroyed in a strong typhoon, leaving five standing to this day, all over 130 years old. These surviving ancient kapok trees all stand over 20 meters tall, surrounded by square banyans, camphor trees, and other lush greenery.
