The third branch of the amba Yishe hotel series, “Zhongshan Yishe,” is scheduled to officially open on May 13. Located in Taipei’s Zhongshan shopping district, the hotel adopts a calm, humanistic style, integrating local culture, history, and art elements, making it a uniquely designed eco-conscious boutique hotel.

amba Yishe Hotels, part of the Regent Group, has been accelerating its expansion across Taiwan recently, actively targeting younger travelers, independent tourists, and those who book hotels online. The brand also uses the amba name to create “localized-style hotels,” giving each amba Yishe property a stronger local identity. Among them, Ximen Yishe and Zhongshan Yishe are vastly different. A hotel tour guide said, “Ximen Yishe has a more lively, youth-oriented vibe, while Zhongshan Yishe embodies a calm, humanistic style.”

Zhongshan Yishe Hotel offers five room types including double rooms, scenic view rooms, and balcony rooms. Each floor has about 13 rooms, totaling 90 guest rooms, with some rooms able to be combined to accommodate families. In terms of lighting, every room has an exterior window, ensuring ample natural light. Each window is also UV-resistant, so guests don’t need to worry about harmful sun exposure. The design also features energy-saving and environmental benefits — guests can keep indoor temperatures comfortable without setting the air conditioning too low.

Zheng Yulun, Senior Manager of Marketing and Sales at Regent Hotels’ corporate headquarterssaid that the carpets in the rooms are made from eco-friendly materials, and the furniture provided is made of natural wood. These items were custom-designed in Southeast Asia before being delivered to the hotel for guests to use. Each floor’s common area includes a lounge with furniture made from ancient natural wood. Just the bench in the third-floor lounge is made from timber that is nearly 80 years old, repurposed from colonial-era wood. Additionally, each floor’s lounge tables offer various candies for guests to enjoy.

From the outside, both the exterior design and interior installations of Taipei Zhongshan Yishe Hotel exude a strong humanistic and artistic flavor. One wall features a pop art mural. Zheng Yulun said, “The exterior wall was created in collaboration with Spot to graffiti nearby landmarks and specialty snacks.”The hotel’s main gate reuses old aluminum window frames and wrought iron grilles left over from the previous building, with workers rearranging them into new patterns.Additionally, the hotel’s exterior features a full-wall “amba” brand logo, which alone took workers seven days to arrange.

Zheng Yulun also mentioned that Zhongshan Yishe will open a brand-new dining concept, the ‘ACHOI Contemporary Cuisine Restaurant,’ on the first floor with an open kitchen design. It will serve creative appetizers and dishes, opening officially together with the hotel on May 13.
